Bob and Carol Baker

Bob Baker, former senior associate pastor and elder at VineLife Community Church near Boulder, and his wife, Carol, are transplanted West Texans who moved to Colorado with their family 30 years ago to plant a new church in Littleton. They are the parents of four grown children and have 13 grandchildren. In their 49th year of marriage, the Bakers have been on the front line of marriage and family ministries for over 35 years.

Bob currently serves as Director of the Colorado Marriage Project for the Rocky Mountain Family Council. He and Carol are regularly “on the road” presenting marriage enrichment workshops in various venues across the Front Range and beyond. He is an elder at Denver United Church, which meets on the campus of the University of Denver. The Bakers are featured guests for a weekly radio show on marriage and family issues on KPOF, AM 910 in Denver, and Bob carries a full load of marriage coaching clients.

Both Carol and Bob are graduates of the University of Texas at El Paso, Bob in journalism and Carol in education. After serving as a commanding officer in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, Bob spent three years as a newspaper editor before graduating with honors from law school at Texas Tech University. He then launched a 39-year legal career with a large firm in El Paso, operated his own law firms in Texas, in Denver, and in Broomfield, and served as senior vice-president and general counsel for a large oil and gas firm in Denver. From 1995 through 2005, Bob was engaged in fulltime vocational ministry and now splits his time between law practice and work with the Rocky Mountain Family Council. His law practice focuses on estate planning, small business issues, real estate, and non-profit entities.

A former board member of the Rocky Mountain Family Council, Bob has served on the Colorado Marriage Project since its inception in the mid-1990’s. In 1991, Bob and Carol joined the volunteer leadership team at their church and soon were given freedom to build a marriage and family ministry “from the ground up.” Over the past 15 years, they have spearheaded the development of a full-service Marriage and Family Ministry, which included a 13-week Premarital Class, small groups focusing on marriage and parenting issues; marriage retreats, marriage mentoring teams, and numerous written materials addressing family issues.

After a stint as an elementary school teacher, Carol took a 25-year break to raise their four children and then returned to a 10-year stint as an elementary school teacher in various Christian schools in the North Metro area. She is active in leading women’s Bible studies, teaching premarital classes, and in caring for their grandchildren in the Denver area.

What People are Saying About the Bakers and their “Soul-Healing Love” Events:

Thanks for entrusting such valuable information with us…and thanks for investing so much in us. We appreciate you both so much.”

My husband is a new man after the weekend retreat. He has his faith back and the cloud has lifted. He is so full of love. Thank you for leading us in such a life-changing weekend.”

Was so good to spend a weekend with you and gain new friends as well. This is a great curriculum. Real hands on tools to make a difference in relationships.”

Thank you, Bob and Carol, for ALLLLLLLL your prayers, thoughtfulness and elbow grease in planning this wonderful retreat. We've never experienced anything so powerful relating to blessing and improving our marriage as this.“

Since we arrived home from the weekend, I've sensed a 'long time existing' ... invisible, undefinable wall has dissolved that had separated my heart from [my husband] -- that I was kind of aware of, but didn't have it defined and therefore, not addressed. Amazing and wonderful! And the really neat thing ... I feel, sense a closeness, awareness of Jesus, at a higher, more intimate level than I've experienced before. Really interesting. Can't quite describe it. Very pleasant.”

Our drive home was rich with conversation about the weekend. We so appreciate all you are doing for marriages and marvel at the fruit God is producing through the two of you. We loved learning more about the healing of soul wounds.”

Highlights of the weekend for me were:

The love and encouragement of the two of you;

Bonding with the other couples and hearing their stories and the changes they're willing to make;

Praying to have the wound of not being trustworthy/the troublemaker removed;

[My Husband] prayed to have a wound of inferiority healed; Sharing scriptures”

The Lord has given the two of you such a sensitivity to the Spirit and the needs of others. There is a sweetness in your presence. Bob, you present the concepts with deep understanding and personal application. Carol's real life application is transparent and real.”

We are still processing all the layers of the weekend. It would be fun to get together and talk more sometime. Thank you so much for the wonderful gift of the weekend and your service to us. We are truly blessed to have the two of you in our lives.”

God has definitely gifted you and Carol to minister to the hearts and minds of people who attend these workshops. Thank you for sharing!!”

My wife and I have been to many marriage seminars or conferences, and we feel we got more out of your presentation than any of those. We love you and your wife for what you do, and may God continue to bless both of you so that you can do this for many years to come.”
